In the early days, people believed that the souls of the dead were sailing around the places where their bodies were buried. For this reason, houses were built in these spirits to protect them. This has been captured by the protection of the living people in the houses above the ground.

The enemies of human ghosts were ground spirits. When necessary, weapons were placed next to the dead in the graveyard so that they could fight the devils. Dead bodies were also fascinated with the magic and protective tricks against the attack. These ornaments were usually used by dead while he/she was alive: Bracelets, necklace, earrings.

Even the faces of the dead were painted. The reason for this was probably the idea that the paint was a protective shield against bad eye and other evil influences.

As long as the bodies were kept in their graves, it was believed that the souls of the dead were safe. But they also thought that they needed food and drink. For this reason, food containers and drink bottles were available at the funeral.

According to a Babylonian belief; sometimes in search of food in streets that are not buried properly, and sometimes they have been rubbishes by eating garbage and drinking dirty water.
