Belief in demons was so widespread in the Mesopotamian lands and especially among the Babylonian people that the numerous amulets and anti-evil talismans and similar objects unearthed during excavations astonish us even today.

If you’re wondering how demon is captured and used to trap them, let’s take a look at just one of these objects, and perhaps the most interesting, demon traps.

Demons traps: There are over two thousand demon traps.

Demon Traps in Mesopotamia , between 5th -7th Centuriy: In order to protect the house from evil spirits, it was usually placed on the foundation of houses.  They were written by Aramaic, Syriac, Mandaic and Pahlavi languages. There are over two thousand demon traps written in Babylonian language.

When we look at the pottery, we see that the demons are bound to do no evil things. When demons enter the house of the evildoers they fall into the trap. Some of them are buried in the entrances of the houses or some of them are left in the private parts of the houses. It is left to the corners where the walls are especially cracked; Think of the trap as the demon sneaks in from here.

These pottery made in the land of Babylon called the demon trap (trap) or the magic bowl. The spiral-shaped constructions, the demon, pulled it into the vase and tied it there.
